Thanks to the support from Cycling UK, we’re excited to be helping key workers get on two wheels with our free Ready to Ride sessions.
Covid-19 has led to lots of key workers needing reliable transport that allows for effective social distancing and gives them fast, efficient and independent way of getting around. For many, bikes are a perfect solution and so we’ve designed a Ready to Ride session that is aimed to help key workers get the most out of cycling.
The sessions will be tailored for each key worker to help address their needs individually. So if you’re a key worker and you already have a bike, the session might include :
Basic bike maintenance – we can give you’re bike a safety check, making simple adjustments and demonstrating basic bike maintenance tasks.
Bike set up – we’ll advise you on how to best set up your bike for comfort and efficiency.
Sharing local knowledge – if you’re new to cycling it can be hard to know the best routes for bikes around our city, or even what is on offer from other cycling partners in Exeter.
All Ready to Ride sessions also include a free D-Lock to keep your bike safe and a free Bring Your Own Bike induction. Although not currently running due to Covid-19 restrictions, this is our weekly open workshop session where individuals can work on their bike in a supportive environment. Once it is up and running again, this will provide you with a space to come maintain your bike.
If you are yet to buy a bike, we can also sell you a bike from our stock and give you the chance to have it built to different specification if required, so if you want mudguards, a pannier rack or a more upright position it is all possible. Once ready, you can get all of the above benefits as well.
If you haven’t got a bike, we can also help by giving you priority bookings to view our stock and are happy to build bikes to your own specification if required. So, if you want mudguards, a pannier rack, or a more upright position, for example, we can help. Please note, stock of our bikes is very limited but if we can help we will!
Of course our strict Covid measures will be in place to keep everyone safe – for instance, the sessions will take place in our yard and the bike wiped down before use.
